No More Winter Itch

>> Friday, February 01, 2013

It was last month when my daughter started getting this crazy redness almost all over her body, particularly, right on her bottom. I was worried that she might ate something that triggers the itchiness but hubby thought it might be the laundry soap, whatever it might be, it really gets me so worried. So, I thought what else I could do to minimize the allergy, redness and itchiness which getting worse because she would scratch them like crazy that leads to irritation. I also thought about it might be the cold winter weather which mostly associated with winter itch as they called it.

As a matter of fact, I asked my husband if our humidifier was working, luckily, it was. Yet, it wasn’t somehow enough to putting extra moisture into the air I guess therefore the dryness is overcoming it. Sometimes, the indoor heating system makes your skin dry and stuffed your nose. So, I think we need to buy our humidifier a filter so we can use it again.

Also, my daughter always takes a bathe after she had her meals because she gets so messy after every meal. So, whenever she took a bath, I always minimize being in it and always take a warm bath instead of shower because bath are gentler on skin. Then, after, I always put her moisturizer lotion to lock the hydration as much as possible.

Lastly, giving her enough water to drink everyday can be a better way to replenish moisture from the inside out. I don’t have problem with my son Josh with having dry skin because he always drinks liquids. Yet, for my daughter, I think as a 19 month old, she still have sensitive skin as compare to a 6 years old. So hopefully her skin will get used to these changes of weather in next couple years.
