Cell Phones were Banned for Young Drivers

>> Friday, February 22, 2013

Last night while I was waiting for my son to get done at his behavioral therapy, I was reading this metro parent magazine, where one article caught my attention. As we all know, when the kid reached the age of 16, he can able to start driving. Even though, they can drive, still they were inexperienced drivers to get distracted while on the road. Therefore, with the new law whom signed by Governor Rick Synder of Michigan last month, called the “Kelsey’s Law”. Kelsey Law is named after Kelsey Raffaele whom reminds me one morning when I was watching news where they talked about this girl who died in a fatal car accident due to talking on her phone while on the road.

This is something we have to look after. This law is now been applied to Michigan, but this could be prevented in all other states. I’ve been driving for almost 6 months now and I know that driving needs to be treated seriously. I know I’m inexperienced and so I have to focus my attention on one thing, driving. No talking over the phone, or even eating or drinking beverages while driving. This is very hard to do which I guess takes years to practice and to get used to.

This law applies to level 1 drivers who are required to accompany by parent or guardian ages 21 or older. And level 2 drivers, who are allowed to drive alone but have limits on young passengers and the times of day they are allowed to drive. So, level 3 drivers were exempted. A hands-free phone system and emergency are allowed though and police are allowed to enforce it directly. This law will be in effect in late March of this year. This is something good to hear especially on my part, knowing that I’ll be expecting more aware, attentive drivers on the road.

it'd be great to have the same law here in pinas. lots of young drivers mostly often cause accidents due to use of phones while driving.

cheers for sharing! :)

I don't know why some people take these things for grandted. It irritates me seeing people driving and get distracted with their phones. We've been into a lot of situations already while traveling when people are looking down at their cellphones and driving at the same time. Like really? I have two precious cargos behind us and some idiots could end their lives before of stupidity. Makasapot mommy ning mga walay disiplina ba nga madistract sa phones man magdrive. Ug dili man gani ilaha life mawala basin ang uban tawo maamong sa ka stupid ba. hehehe.. Mura ko ug nangisog.

they shoudnt just banned the young drivers. they should banned using cellphones to all drivers. coz the older you get the slower your reflex is. ive seen a lot of drivers who are in their 40's-50's talking to their phone while driving, and almost had an accident one time coz she cut right in front of me, good thing i have a fast foot and nobody was following or it would have been a disaster. she was talking to her phone, and just pass by like nothing happened. crazy right? I was like MF, BS, F! lol! tanan cguro pamalikas nigawas ato na time. hahahaha..... she didnt see me coming cz she was busy ttalking to her phone.
