At my seven months (28 weeks) of my pregnancy which is the first week of my third trimester and about 12 weeks from my due date. By this week, my baby weighs 2 1/4 pounds (about the size of a Chinese cabbage) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of her head to her heels according to the fetal development I checked online. Many women report feeling additional symptoms and discomfort during the third trimester, although not all women will experience the same symptoms. Symptoms may also vary from subsequent pregnancies which I could relate. Some women experienced symptoms that I never did.
Like the Braxton-Hicks Contractions. Many women experience Braxton-Hicks Contractions at 28 weeks. They may become more frequent as the due date nears. These contractions are felt in the lower abdomen or groin area and come and go with no increase in intensity or regularity, but I never did yet and wish I will never did until next month. Also, the shortness of Breath, this is what I felt right now as my uterus expands below my diaphragm, the muscle pushes upward on my lungs. I felt more out of breath when completing daily activities too. It may be helpful to sleep propped up on pillows and take some time to rest between tasks which I usually do right now or asked my husband's help. I also feel relief closer to my delivery, as the baby will begin to settle lower into the pelvis in preparation for birth.
Aside from that a lot of women experienced heartburn which is a common symptom of seven months of pregnancy. Lucky me, I wasn't experiencing heartburn. If you are, it might be the growing uterus places an upward pressure on your stomach. They said that this causes the acid in your stomach (hydrochloric acid) to rise into your esophagus, resulting in burning and discomfort. So, over-the-counter antacids, such as Tums or Mylanta, are considered safe for use during pregnancy. If your heartburn does not respond to treatments, it may cause damage to the lining of the esophagus. Contact your provider, who may be able to recommend a different medication.
Anyway, another thing that I was worried about since I got hemorrhoids on my first pregnancy. Although some women experience hemorrhoids in the third trimester. These occur from the additional weight of the baby on veins in the rectal area. Avoiding constipation and straining during bowel movements may help to prevent hemorrhoids. Tucks pads and Anusol cream are safe for use during pregnancy which I used right now to avoid severe hemorrhoids during birth.
Also, I experienced back pain right now which many women report back pain during the third trimester. This is most likely because of the increased weight of pregnancy on my back and joints, and my pregnancy hormones causing the hips and joints to relax. I wish my husband would give me a prenatal massage which is helpful to alleviate back pain. Also, supporting my back with pillows while sitting and laying down provides additional comfort as well.
Now, I can't wait to go on a vacation and maybe I could relax even more. I hope so.
