A New Family Tradition

Guest post of the week by Val Flores

Since my youngest kids are at the age where they are starting to know who Santa Claus is, I've made a new tradition in our home to watch Twas The Night Before Christmas. We have been doing it every year for the past 4 years on Christmas Eve. This gets my kids extremely excited about Christmas!

Every year, we watch Twas The Night Before Christmas on our satellite television from www.direct.tv/direct-tv-packages.html. The kids get bathed and put on their Christmas pajamas and grab a few cookies to watch the special. This special truly shows how a child feels the very night before Christmas before Santa arrives. You can watch your child watch this special with anticipation in their eyes hoping that Santa is on his way. I love watching the sparkle and wonder in their eyes when they watch this.

After the kids watch Twas The Night Before Christmas, it's not really all that hard to get the kids to go to bed. They usually run to their bedrooms as if they were running track. I recommend this special with two thumbs up. Your kids will feel the Christmas spirit and you will too if you're still a kid at heart. Twas The Night Before Christmas airs on various channels throughout the season and can be easy to miss so make sure to keep an eye out for it.

Computer Games Addict

This week on Silly Monkey Stories:

A few weeks ago, my son was getting so into games on the computer. He always played with it since his dad introduced it to him. He loves to play the Diego and Dora the Explorer games before, but now he was playing with Chuggington trains games, Kailan, what else, oh the Word World too. He loves it and he could spend his whole day playing with computer games, but of course, I always not let him to.

So, one day, his dada was on the desktop computer, so he couldn't get into it. You know he knows how to turn on the computer now and click the Internet to open his games. One time, I went to excuse myself to go to the restroom when I came back, he was on my laptop already playing Word World. As a mom, I got so excited seeing him in front of it. He seemed like a little man...

While playing word world game online....Every time I get up to go either on the bathroom or get something to eat, he will run and sit on in front of the computer...see what a monkey he was! LOL!

Meet Don Pepin

Last two weeks ago, we went to a buffet restaurant during our Christmas party with friends. At the restaurant, we find that other people celebrated their Christmas party as well at the restaurant. Some of them are exchanging their gifts already and I remember that one of the men meet don pepin cigar for the first time, I thought that was odd gift, but surprisingly, the old man who received it must be loving it because when he opened it, he exclaimed, "don pepin cigar? wow!" we all looked at him. He seemed overjoyed and his face which you can tell was quite very excited about it! Then, they started talking about it and asking if that what he likes or something. I thought well giving gifts is not merely for expensive stuff, it can be anything! What matters most is that the person who received the gift is happy and satisfied of what he or she got for Christmas.

Holiday Cards

Most of my friends had been missing to send out some holiday cards for their friends due to the fact that some of them had gone busy for these past few days due to errands and some parties. I thought if they only order some Christmas/holiday cards online, they might send those holiday cards on time.

Anyway, I found several online websites where you can order and send out your holiday cards on time. I would probably use this website next Christmas. I find their cards very unique and very affordable which makes the card for only $1. That was amazing! I can’t wait! I’m also going to share this to my family and friends, this is absolutely a value deals.
What more could you ask for? It is going to be the best holiday for you if you got this price for a holiday card. Don't you agree?

3rd Month of Pregnacy

During the third month of my pregnancy, my baby’s bones begin to ossify or harden. My baby is already moving spontaneously and I saw it for the first time last week on my primary ultrasound appointment to confirmed my due date and if the baby was normal. But, of course, I usually can’t feel these movements for awhile yet, but after I saw those ultrasound pictures, I felt in love. My baby’s eyes are large and open. Eyelids will form later. External ears have formed.

External genitalia begin to differentiate, though it’s still very difficult to tell whether my baby is a girl or a boy without genetic screening. My baby moves from being an embryo to the fetal period, now called a fetus. She or he also loses their tail! Wow!

My baby’s head is the biggest part of their body. It is about 1/2 the size of the rest of the body. While the head is large, the brain’s structure is similar to what it will be at birth. She weighs about 14 grams and is approximately 3.54 inches in total length. By the end of this month I should be able to hear my baby’s heart beat with a Doppler. And, it is going to be two weeks from now, I will have my other OB appointment again with my doctor. I can't wait! Getting so excited here!

Christmas Gift for Dad

A few weeks ago, my father in law told us that he will be coming here in Michigan and stay with us after Christmas. We were so excited about it and since it was after Christmas to have a Christmas party with him, we thought we might want to get something for him this time. Since we didn’t get him anything because of the tight budget, but we were thinking of maybe a brand new robe for men. I found some Egyptian cotton robes online, I thought it might be a good idea to just get this one for him. I told my husband about it and he agreed.

Now, I’m thinking of getting a robe for Christmas, but I thought we might need to get him some cotton ones or lightweight cotton type of material because he was living in a warmer state in the US. So, we were going out again to go for some shopping adventure.

Second Month Pregnancy

Baby's Growth

Two Month Fetus

In this second month of life, my baby continues to develop internal organs and other major structures of the body. By the end of the eighth week, all the organs are present. There is also continued growth and development of the brain and spinal column.

The arms and legs begin as small buds off the body, and during this second month they begin to lengthen. At the end of the arms and legs, tiny finger and toe buds begin to form. Even at this early stage, my baby already has individual fingerprints.

My baby's eyes and ears are beginning to form, although she will not be able to see or hear until later. If I could see into her gums I would find that tooth buds are beginning to appear.

At the end of the eighth week my baby will be around 1 inch long and weigh 0.1 oz. ahh....

First Month of Pregnancy

When I found out I was pregnant, it made me realized how amazing journey I would be in for the next couple months. Every pregnancy is different and I find it very challenging and exciting. While we often talk about it lasting for nine months, pregnancy is generally measured by weeks, lasting 40 weeks or 266 days from conception. Each month brings unique changes for my baby’s growth and development.

As a mom, I find it very enjoyable to share some updates and news about how my baby doing.

After the sperm and egg combined, my newly created baby began a process of cell division that could rightly be called "explosive." In these first four weeks, before some women even realize they are pregnant, my baby has begun to develop everything it needs to survive until birth. The fertilized egg will create my baby, the placenta, the amniotic sac and the amniotic fluid.

The creation of my baby begins before she is even attached to my uterine lining. As the egg divides and grows, cells begin to be specialized. Approximately 10 days after fertilization, my baby implants in the uterus. The lungs, heart and spinal cord begin to form. By the third week of life my baby 's heart is already pumping blood on its own.

By the end of the fourth week my baby is less than .03 oz, and is approximately 1/8 of an inch long. This is getting so exciting for me...I didn't even know yet here that I was pregnant until next month...

Mommy Moments: A Perfect Christmas

mommy moments
It's been a while since I made my last post for Mommy Moments and now I'm so glad I'm back. Finally, I have the power and willingness to update all of my blogs today, since I was so behind now with everything. I felt so sad about it, but hopefully I could catch up.

Anyway, this week on Mommy Moments is all about the Perfect Christmas. Maybe, this is our perfect Christmas because of the new addition of our family. About last month, we found out that I was pregnant and now we're so excited about it. Since this is our last Christmas to have one kiddo in the house, we're thinking this is the most memorable Christmas for all of us.

For the next couple months, we're going to have another human being in the house and that would change a lot! Then, maybe next Christmas would be the most perfect one! Oh well...

This time around, we're going to spend it with my husband's family. I missed being at home and celebrate the traditional Filipino Christmas Noche Buena, but I'm hoping it will happen soon, two years from now. I'm counting to that...

Anyway, two days to go and maybe one day more to go on some countries, so to celebrate the season! Happy Holiday everyone!

Join now! Share your Wicked Moments

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Toms of Maine. All opinions are 100% mine.

Some people were indeed very curious about their healthy diet. Therefore, a lot of them choose to buy and eat food produced by natural and organic factors because for them it could help especially when aging. Sometimes, due to the awareness of living a healthy lifestyle, some people chooses to just use natural products to ensure safety from food to personal hygiene needs such as toothpaste and mouthwash.  For me, I wasn’t really into organic stuff, but I can use natural products made with natural ingredients like Tom’s mouthwash.

Let me tell you a story. I’ve been using mouthwash for a long time, some of them really seemed work, but at the same burnt your mouth. It was a nightmare when I always had to use the same mouthwash and got the same burn all over again. I thought I might need something good and yet won’t burn my lips, my gums, the side of my mouth, and even my tongue.  I never paid for a mouthwash to burn my mouth. You know what I mean.

Good thing I heard about Tom's Of Maine, one of the leading company that sell a wide selection of products include toothpaste and mouthwash. It was being introduced by my sister. I’m so glad she did.

Therefore, I had a chance now to share my wicked moments because of this. If you have some wicked moments as well, don’t hesitate to share your Wicked Fresh moments for a chance to win Wicked Fresh!™ Prizes at That's Wicked Fresh contest page. Shop for the best Holiday Gifts

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Pier 1 Imports. All opinions are 100% mine.

Still shopping for the holiday gifts? Not too late yet. A lot of stores for these past few days had been opening early and late, therefore, you still have the chance to grab some of those special gifts for that special someone in your life. One of the best stores to shop for special holiday gifts is at Pier 1 Imports.  Why? Well, I was just actually at the Pier 1 store last week with my husband.  It was my first time actually to go to a store, other than shopping at Pier 1 Imports online.  Trust me, that store was amazing! There are a lot of selection to choose from candle and fragrance, dining essentials, home accents and décor, furniture, and even home textiles. This is the place where I found these cute beaded jingle coasters.  I’m so happy because this is absolutely perfect for wacky holiday gifts that I’m going to this Sunday.

Anyway, if you haven’t done shopping yet, let Pier 1 help you. Also, don’t forget to help out and donate some of your children’s unwanted toys for Toys for Tots which can be donated at any Pier 1 store through the whole month of November and December. You can also donate monies at the register. You can also help out by liking Pier 1 on Facebook because they will donate $1 on every person who liked them on Facebook. Spread the word as well!

V is for Vitamins

On ABC Wednesday is V. V for me is Vitamins.

It's been two months now that I've been sharing about my pregnancy. I through all ups and downs of pregnancy and so far, everything was good now. I'm done with my morning sickness (finally! Thank God) and one thing I'm quite so into right now was having nausea for once in awhile and for being bloated all the time which I hated the most!

Well, despite the fact that I'm still experiencing such an ordeal on this second pregnancy of mine. I also have another problem, taking prenatal vitamins! I hate prenatal vitamins because it has some after smell and taste. I posted about it on my Face book which most people are lurking around these days. Surprisingly, a lot of my friends shared some thoughts and one of them actually shared about these new vitamins in a soft gel form. I was thrilled about it.

Anyway, I asked my OB about it and she indeed recommends it to me. I haven't had a chance to get my prescription yet. I was excited about it, maybe this one will work for me. Actually, I was thinking of just taking two children's Flintstones chewable vitamins a day instead of prenatal vitamins.

If you have known something, share it to me! Love to hear it!

Personalized Ornaments

Last few days ago, I was browsing my friend’s photos on Facebook when suddenly I found some Personal Creations christmas ornament sets that they put on their Christmas tree. It was so special since she put and actually made the ornaments by themselves in speaking of painting it and personalizing it. The ornaments are all about her daughters as a first time big sister and for her youngest daughter’s first Christmas. It was so cute. I can’t help it not to make a comment and how sweet it is!

So, I went online today to look for some personalized ornaments and I found some of them. I was thinking of maybe I can do this next year. I could order a big brother for my son and for my second baby’s first Christmas. It would be very special for us.

Before that, I was so excited about this ornament I found online, it was so cute! It’s called expectant couple! I was so thrilled and wanted to have it right now! Too bad they don’t have a pregnant woman with a black hair. Well, I could get a brunette one! See, everything has its own way.

There a lot of things you can find on this online store for personalized ornaments, you will absolutely love this website too. Check it out for yourself!

Josh on his Well Child Check Up

Since my son turned a year old, he started getting his well-child exam every 6 months and until he turned two that's where the doctor recommends an annual well-child examination. Then, I made an appointment again for him. Yesterday, we had the appointment everything was checked. We had his CBC checked as well for a lead testing. Then, he his weighed and height check then his temperature. Everything was good and I’m glad everything went well. His height is in average for 3 feet and 3 inches, he weighed average as well for 35 pounds. Then, his temperature was 97F which is normal. Then, he has his ears and mouth checked which turned out fine.

Anyway, my son will be 4 years old next month and I’m quite so excited about it. He’s not going to be my baby boy for a long time. Sooner or later he will be getting so big and will explore new things on his own. Soon, he will start going to school and I’m also excited about it as well.

My observation with my son as a three year old, he started to express his own wants and needs. What he doesn’t want or need. He eventually can focus on things he was doing despite distraction around him. He can also recognize, name and sing their favorite songs as well especially on his favorite shows such as Blue’s Clues, Word World, Super Why and Dora and Diego series. My son loves dramatic play, and will sometimes get so involved in his imagined scenarios that they continue his roles even after the play stops. It was funny sometimes, but I’ve been there. I know. He can communicate in simple sentences and are refining his use of grammar like mentioning a toy with plural toys, something like that.

Well, as the time went by he was still continue to explore and learning new things. Plus, he loves to play computer games as well. Though, I limit his play, I always make sure he has the balance he need. He was indeed handful sometimes. So I need some extra hand as well. I’m quite ready now!

Winter Boots for my Man!

Last Monday was indeed an official day here in Michigan for a snowy day! At that time, we took our winter boots out of the closet so that we can wear them in the snow. My husband has been using his winter boots for quite a long time now and I thought he in fact needs a new pair of winter winter boots. I still remember when we got his old winter boots; it was about two years ago when he was still working on his old job. Since then he never had gotten a new boots for the winter. I felt so bad about it, since I already bought two winter boots for the past years and never got one for him.

Now, I’m thinking of getting him a leather boots for either Christmas or for our wedding anniversary. My husband was quite specific when it comes on shoes. He got a Dr. Marten shoes about a year ago and it was indeed costs a lot of money. Although, it was costly, it lasted forever. The shoes were still the same as the first time we bought it. I was surprised! I thought he might want a Dr. Marten winter boots this time.

So, I went online and I found tons of Dr. Marten winter boots. He will absolutely love the boots in ankle style. I found some boots that he might like online and I thought of getting them on or before our wedding anniversary. The Dr. Marten 1460 looks good, great for casual and play time (sledding or skiing). I also find Dr. Marten’s Nathan 5 Eye Chukka boots looks durable and made with good quality leather. Well, I really like the last one. Too bad it wasn’t available yet, but I’m crossing my finger that it will soon be available. I really like the boots and maybe will go to the local store nearby as well to check out some winter boots for my dear husband.

Mommy and Me on Xmas Party

Last two weeks ago, we went to my husband's work Christmas party for the very first time. It was indeed just a small party that only involved the people that only work on my husband's division. We had a blast meeting new people while my son was being a good boy the whole time. It was about two weeks ago, but I was so lazy to put my entry for Mommy and Me, so pardon me. I just can't help and it wasn't me. It was my pregnancy dilemma.

Anyway, before we went to the party. I took a shot of me and my son. After I took the photo, I noticed that my son was more matured now than before. He's getting so big and soon he will be 4 years old. I can't believe how time went by so fast!

Actually, we went to his doctor's appointment yesterday and he's getting so big now! He weighed about 35 pounds and 3 feet 3 inches tall! He's not my baby boy anymore! Therefore, in every step of the way, I always make sure I took a picture with him because he will not be like this for long time...

Payday Loans

Sometimes, there are circumstances in life that we can’t stop such as life’s emergencies. Therefore, it is always important to have savings, just in case, medical emergencies or unwanted circumstances might occur. However, not a lot of people have savings account, if they go to work, make money, then they wait two weeks before they get paid. What if they need their money right now? And so, payday loans is here to help these people out. If you haven’t done payday loans before, you can find more information about how to obtain services online.

As for me, if I have job, I would definitely use payday loans in order to get the money/wage without waiting for two weeks. It was a very convenient ways specifically for those people who need an immediate financial aid. I wish this service is available to the Philippines because on some cases, sometimes people over there have to pawn their jewelries in order to get money for emergency purposes which are sometimes not so safe. Unlike, pay day loans, it’s your own money, all you need to do is get it in advance without any collateral, but for minimal fee which is not so bad at all.

Therefore, if you need to get your money now, in case for emergency or for payment on bills, then visit online for more information on how to get payday loans service in your area. It is so easy to use, if you have a bank account, a job, then you’re qualified to get your money on time. Sometimes a lot of payday loans services approved application at less than no time. So, what are you waiting for? Visit or check online now for information about payday loans in your area. It is your money, get it when you need it!

Caffeine: Bad for your Health

A few months ago, I remember that my husband promised to himself that he won’t longer drink pop soda or coffee. But, as the days went by, he always have a cup of coffee. His reason is it gives him headache if he won’t drink coffee for the day or pop. I thought it might be the idea of psychology which only on his mind. I don’t know and I’m not sure, but I was quite concerned about it. If he gets a headache if he will not drink coffee or a pop soda, then his body was addicted to caffeine. I think this is not a good observation. I told him; maybe he needs to do something about it. Since being addicted to caffeine can cause dehydration that might lead to headache or unwanted illness. He was indeed did something to it. At the same time, he was also working out and as well minimizing his consumption on caffeine.

Now, I was quite thinking about what to do for the sake of my health as well. I also stopped drinking pop soda and watching over my weight. Since I was pregnant, I can’t able to take effective diet pills, so I have to just do a healthy diet plan and maybe some exercise for pregnant women. Then, after I give birth, maybe I can do weight loss pills then. Well, I just can’t wait to get my old body back soon.

U is for Udon

ABC Wednesday is U. U means Udon Noodles.

According to Notecook,

Udon is a type of thick, wheat-flour noodle in Japan. The name has been localized into "udong" which is now sold in markets in the Southern Philippine City of Davao. It is derived from a traditional Japanese noodle preparation. The residents of Davao picked up the dish during the Second World War when the Japanese occupied the city.

It's been days now that I've been craving for this Japanese noodle recipe. I wanted to go to one of my favorite restaurant, but they costs a lot of money. I wish I could buy some udon noodles and just make it myself. So I searched and searched online to find the perfect recipe, and I guess I found one, but not so sure if it's the right one I wanted to.

Here is a recipe for a tasty udon (udong) noodle dish. This particular udong dish was created by Lorena Espinosa who has a friend from Davao who introduced the noodles to her. Now, she shares this recipe here. I hope you enjoy this Japanese-Filipino fusion dish. Let’s cook!

Ingredients for the meatballs
1/4 kg of ground pork
1 onion bulb (finely diced)
garlic; 5 cloves (finely diced)
1 egg (beaten)
1 small carrot (finely diced)
ground pepper
salt
cooking oil
Ingredients for the noodle soup
fried meatballs
garlic; 6 cloves (crushed)
onion bulb (finely chopped)
1/8 kg udong noodles
malunggay leaves (Moringa oleifera)
salt
pepper
I was looking forward to make one sometime soon since I've been craving for it. I can't wait for the Christmas party that we were going to attend two weeks from now at Fuji Japanese Restaurant since they have Udon there as one of their entree. I can't wait! This is what pregnancy is for! Crave as you want and get it! LOL! Oh well...

Cheapest Insurance

Last few days ago, my husband and I were looking for the best insurance quote we could find online. I think we spent about five hours doing so. We have tried the entire insurance company provider and compare those prices, yet we still couldn’t get the exact rate which for some reason, we needed my husband’s driving record to obtain an exact rate.

So, yesterday, we went to DMV to get his driving record. Then, when we came home, he went online right away to get the best car insurance quote online. We found one and we’re so thankful about it. We saved about $60 compare to our old insurance policy. I thought this is what I was talking about. I think it is important to spent more time looking for the best insurance, either for health, dental, house, rental, life, etc., because at the end you will find the best and right one for you. You only need more time and patience to do so.

Now, we’re thankful we can save money. I hope we can save even more on our other insurances as well.

Eclipse in Blu-ray

It’s been two years now since we have our blu-ray disc player and since then we enjoyed a lot of blu-ray disc movies. As a matter of fact, I only have one movie that I love to have in blu ray, my all time favorite movie series, The Twilight Saga. At first movie, I bought the DVD copy because blu-ray wasn’t being introduced yet during those time, or maybe not as famous yet. Then, we don’t have a blu-ray disc player yet, so I bought the DVD instead. Then, last year, New Moon was out so I bought my first blu ray copy.

Now, I’m looking forward to get a new copy of the movie Eclipse in blu ray. I was so excited about buying a copy, but wasn’t so sure if I will get a copy on time because of money was so tight. I was hoping that I could get it instead as a Christmas gift. Well, I’m hoping that someone will give it to me, but if not, then I need to save some money for it.

My Obsession with Candy Canes

Written by my friend Betty Walls

Candy canes are my favorite holiday candy. Most of them don't leave a bad taste in my mouth like certain other candies, and I love that they come in different flavors. When I was a kid, my favorite candy canes were the green and white mint canes. Recently, I've discovered that Starburst makes a fruity variety that tastes even better than the ones I loved before. Last week, I also tried the Sweetarts and Jolly Rancher candy canes. I've always loved Sweetarts and Jolly Ranchers, so I was super excited about finding them as candy cane flavors. They are delicious, though the Sweetarts leave a sour taste in my mouth. I saw an ad for candy canes on my Direct Star TV last week, and I've been looking into the different flavors since then. Here are the other ones I plan to try this season:

--Lifesaver
--Mint Chocolate
--Egg nog
--Cherry
--Spree

I'm obsessed with candy canes. I buy dozens of them each holiday season. I always put them in my kids' stockings, and I even use them as ornaments on the mini Christmas tree in our kitchen.

ABC Wednesday is T is Tiredness

On ABC Wednesday is T. T means Tiredness.

Why Tiredness, it is because this is what I felt today! It's been almost 12 weeks now that I'm on my second pregnancy. It was a tough times because I never experienced such a fatigue situation on my previous pregnancy. I still remember when I always got tired all of a sudden without reason at all. I bet a lot of men can't able to relate this, but bear with me. Well, tiredness was tiring! No one knows for sure what causes early pregnancy fatigue, but it's possible that rapidly increasing levels of the hormone progesterone are contributing to my sleepiness.

I've been reading a lot of things how to cure and make the feeling more comfortable. Some articles said that I should start to feel more energetic once I hit my second trimester, although fatigue usually returns late in pregnancy when I'm carrying around a lot more weight and some of the common discomforts of pregnancy make it more difficult for me to get a good night's sleep. I hate that time when it's almost time to puff out.
