MAKING YOUR HOME SING MONDAY: Avoid Procrastination

MomsTheWord

It's time for Making Your Home Sing Monday meme. It can be an attitude or an action. Motivation is our attitude, baking, encouraging our husband or children (if we have either one), organization, cleaning, saving money, etc. The point with each Monday post is, what are you doing or going to do today to make your home sing?

I have learned a lesson last week that to avoid procrastination, it is really important to set everything on the right place and do it as soon as possible. Don't allow distraction and stay on focus.

Last week, I have been busy blogging, and that I forgot to study for my exam last week, therefore, I missed taking the exam and had to wait until the last day of the class to take a makeup test. So, now I have another exam again tomorrow, and I was kind a procrastinating again because instead of studying, I was here posting this post which is an exception because after this, I will back to study and review.

Anyway, now, I am thinking it is necessary control and avoids distraction just to eliminate procrastination. It can also be done and useful, when it comes to household chores. Now, we are moving out again and I know it may take a lot of work, but I guess it can be all done in the right time if I have proper organization and control to do things on its certain time.

So, here are some steps that I have to learn and cope up with:

Whenever you feel the urge to procrastinate, ask yourself what it is that you really want to achieve as a work at home mom. Once you visualize your future in your head and see the fulfillment of your goals, you be much more motivated to complete your tasks for the day instead of procrastinating them. When you lack a vision, you blindly work your way through day-to-day tasks; once you have a clear idea of what you want to achieve, working for it no longer feels like a job.

Working from home does require a considerable amount of self-discipline and motivation. However, since you are on your own, it is easy to put off work for the day as you tell yourself that you will start working from the next day. Again, when the next day you end up doing the same thing all over again- procrastinating your work, it’s time that you used a different approach. One of the best ways to avoid procrastination is to make the work look easy and achievable. If you set unrealistic targets for yourself, the work naturally starts to look unattractive and uninviting. The main idea is to get work done on a regular basis. You could begin by setting short-term goals that are very much achievable. Don’t push yourself too hard and set minimal goals that you feel sure to achieve by the end of the day. However you also need to take care that these goals are not too small so that by the end of the day you feel like you have achieved something significant.

After every achievement, make sure that you treat yourself with an attractive perk- it could be a favorite show on the radio or a walk to your favorite coffee shop. Whichever way you treat yourself, remember that celebrating your every big or small achievement is a great way to keep yourself motivated.

All work at home moms are aware of the excessive work load they need to face at home with their kids and endless domestic chores. Taking care of your house and kids might consume most of your time, particularly if you don’t have much idea of time management. Once you have too much work on your hands, you will be tempted to procrastinate. The best thing to do is to share the household work with your kids and husband. It’s a great relief when your kids can help you out with the laundry and your husband can take care of the kitchen every now and then.

As a work at home mom, most of your work will revolve around your living space. For efficiency and convenience, you need to arrange your home in such a way that it is easy for you to move around and find something if you need to. Avoid cluttering things up or collecting unnecessary items. A clean and organized home and workspace will help you concentrate and complete your day’s tasks.

As a work at home mom you need to constantly remain motivated and driven to ensure that your work runs smoothly without you indefinitely procrastinating it.

Great ideas. Procrastination can really mess us up sometimes, if we're not careful!

I know that it often seems more fun to put something off, but it's not fun later to have to deal with the consequences!

Thanks for joining up today!
